I have an Internet access from lanet.ua, for the past month I've been monitoring an almost constant congestion of pretty much all links that Lanet has with the outside world. During peak hours this even result in a huge increase of RTT and packet loss in transit.

I wanted to post the following on https://rada.lanet.ua/but the forum is moderated and I doubt that they allow this for publishing, therefore I'm posting it here.

I'm getting terrible performances with Lanet's network. International bandwidth seems to be congested almost 24/7. Performances are very far from the supposed 100Mbit/s tx/rx.

It's not much better with other destinations:

I find it disturbing that I cannot find many discussion about this. It's also obvious that this does not affect only a few users but that it's rather general. A simple ping from a remote location to 194.60.69.115 (www.lanet.ua) shows that RTTs are very unstable throughout the day. At around 10 p. m. local the RTT increase significantly and packets are dropping on a simple icmp ping.

I suspect lanet.ua to voluntarily maintain congested links to avoid paying bandwidth.

Anyone else reported this?

1 Mbit/s in Frankfurt from Tier1єs like Level3 or Telia cost near 0.6-0.7 euro Per mbit! Most cheapest traffic is from IXes, but 10GE port at De-CIX cost 1900 euro + two crosing 100 euro each -> minimum 0.23 euro per Mbit (in case of full port load !) If you need 100M of global connectivity you have to pay near 50-60 euro minimum, If you pay 100 gryvnas for 100Mbit (0.03 euro = 10 times cheaper comparing to most cheapest traffic in europe from IX) what you expect to get ?

I know very well that they are doing this on purpose because they cannot increase pricing and I have nothing against that.

The problem is that they are pretending to provide that and at the moment the congestions are so bad that I can barely keep alive an ssh session, at this point I think it's quite abusive and Lanet should not be advertising such thing.

They could limit the international bandwidth to a few Mbit/s I would not mind as long as they don't do marketing scam and keep the channels unjammed.

Also I'm not against paying a bit more for quality, unfortunately it seems that the only other provider that's available in my area is Kyivstar and I need an Internet access, not NATed filtered crap.

What do you expect by posting it here? With your problem you need to contact the ISP support. Use form of online support through https://my.lanet.ua/login.php or use e-mail support@lanet.ua. Аnd results post here.

What do you expect by posting it here? With your problem you need to contact the ISP support. Use form of online support through https://my.lanet.ua/login.php or use e-mail support@lanet.ua. Аnd results post here.

I'm not asking for a "guaranteed channel", I'm asking for something that's decent. As it's also stated I don't mind to pay an extra for a decent connectivity.

Yes. I had Kyivstar before which was worse than Lanet.

This throuble only currently lanet peering... you need communicate with support team to figure out in this question.

At my work I have similar uplinks and I have good ping to 188.165.12.106:

I used to using lanet for world traffic. Now I am using lanet only for UA traffic, because they have very terreble traffic policy.

I doubt in Lanet having overloaded uplinks. More likely there is a congestion somewhere in backbone link between their server room and your house. Could you please use the mtr (winmtr) program to make a traceroute report with at least 200 probes have sent? Ofc, make the test when you're experiencing that "congestion".

However as it has been mentioned above, you should try reaching their support.

Nonsense, they'd never do this. IMHO Lanet team is the best ISP team i've ever seen.

I doubt in Lanet having overloaded uplinks. More likely there is a congestion somewhere in backbone link between their server room and your house. Could you please use the mtr (winmtr) program to make a traceroute report with at least 200 probes have sent? Ofc, make the test when you're experiencing that "congestion".

It's unlikely that it's just the local channel. If you icmp ping 194.60.69.121 which is the host for www.lanet.ua from a remote location you will see that even this is unstable.

It's 9:34 p. m. and that's what I'm getting:

I'm not expecting to resolve that issue on this forum, I'm just raising awareness and discussing it. Can you explain what's eccentric in this?

As mentioned several times, I'm still waiting for comment from lanet.ua. Yet nothing.

I've also posted on https://rada.lanet.ua/but posts are subject to moderation and so far my topic has not showed up.

Are you using Wi-Fi router and any wireless connection?

Try to use direct cable connection to your provider.

And traceroute output may be more informative in troubleshooting of the problem.

I'm not using any wireless device

There are several traceroutes in the topic's feed.

All the tests were down with ingress traffic. I will test out the egress a little bit later and post the results here.
